Students in 1-3rd grade are working on different types of texture and size projects during the first two weeks of December! Each project focusing on the textures of winter and ways we can incorporate size into works of art. Students used chalk and explored blending techniques to build a 'fluffy' snow person. Sizes includes: small medium large 4th and 5th grade students are studying the art element texture as well. We are exploring the cold winter habitats of penguins and polar bears and learning how to create uniqe winter textures such as ice and snow. We created ice the illusion of cracking ice using watercolors and plastic wrap. Next we experimented with unique snow techniques by throwing salt on our colorful watercolor skys. During the next class we used sponges to created a fluffy textured polar bear or floating ice berg and permenent marker to colors our penguins. I'm excited to share that students go to watch live webcams of our featured creatures! Check out the live penguin cam from seaworld below!
